Deux heures et demi d’attente. Méritées? Faut être folle pour attendre autant de temps assise à même le trottoir. Pour une exposition en plus! Mais, je dois vous avouer que l’expérience est plutôt sympa. Située dans une annexe du MOMA, en plein Manhattan, la Rain Room se veut surnaturelle. L’effet escompté? Contrôler la pluie. La salle est plongée dans l’obscurité, seule une lumière vous fait face, et au dessus de vous…il pleut. Simplement à mesure que vous avancez (marchez doucement, calmement, pas comme moi!) la pluie s’arrête au dessus, juste au-dessus de vous. Vous pouvez marcher autant que vous voulez, il ne pleuvra jamais au dessus de vous! Bénis des Dieux! Effet technologique, mécanisme technique, appelez ça comme vous voulez, l’expérience n’en reste pas moins impressionnante. Inutile cependant d’y rester des heures, dix minutes suffisent pour s’imprégner de cette ambiance particulière. Ils ne font rentrer que dix personnes en moyenne dans la salle, et on peut rester le temps que l’on souhaite. Autant vous dire que c’est très peu par rapport à la queue de visiteurs! Donc soyez cool, n’y passez pas l’après-midi.

Two hours and a half wait. Was it worth it? One must be crazy to wait for such a long time, sitting on the cold and hard pavement, right? Well, I was among the crazy people in queue that day and I have to admit that, apart from the wait, the experience was rather nice. Situated in an appendix of the MOMA in Central Manhattan, the Rain Room is an artistic installation that aims towards the supernatural. If you could have one supernatural power what would it be? Well, the artist decided for us: controlling the rain. The room is plunged into the darkness, only a light faces you, and above is the falling rain. As you move forward (walk slowly, calmly, not like me!) the rain stops falling on top of you, just you. You can walk as much as you want, it will never rain on you! Bless Gods! Technological effect, technical mechanism, call that like you want, the experience remains impressive. Ten minutes in the Rain Room is enough to enjoy the concept and getting soaked with this particular atmosphere. The security is allowed to let in only ten people at a time, and they can stay there as long as we want. Considering the number of visitors wanting to experience the supernatural, be cool, do not spend the afternoon in the room. Circulate!
