Si vous avez la chance d’assister à un ballet, concert ou opéra, n’hésitez pas. C’est certainement une des plus belles salles à Monaco. Il n’y a qu’à voir la tête des gens quand ils y entrent pour la première fois. Histoire de rendre la visite mémorable, allez-y pendant le Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival. S’y sont produits entre autres, Marcus Miller, Sony Rollins, Patti Smith, Roy Hargrove, Ibrahim Malouf, Diana Krall et Jamie Cullum. Prince a également donné deux représentations durant l’été 2009. Il avait visité la salle lors d’un séjour à Monaco et impulsivement (c’est son genre croyez-moi) il a décidé d’organiser deux concerts un mois après. Forcément, Prince à Garnier ça a plu, et les places se sont vendues en moins d’une heure. Le premier concert s’est déroulé à merveille, hystérie générale. Le second, dans la même soirée, Prince est arrivé avec quarante minutes de retard car un spectateur avait pris une photo pendant le premier concert. Diva! Pour ceux qui n’ont pas l’occasion de voir la salle, contournez le bâtiment pour voir la façade côté mer. C’est assez magique, un reste de Belle Epoque.

If you have the opportunity to go see a ballet performance, a concert or an opera, do not hesitate. It’s definitely one of the most beautiful rooms in Monaco. You should see the people’s faces when they go in for the first time. And just to make the visit even more memorable, try going there during the Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival. He had visited the opera during one of his stays in Monaco, and had impulsively (totally his style believe me) decided to organize two concerts a month later. Obviously, the idea of Prince performing at the Garnier Opera seduced everyone, and all the tickets were sold in less than an hour. The first concert was a huge success, massive general hysteria. For the second one, in the same evening, Prince arrived forty minutes late because a spectator had taken a picture during the first concert. Diva! For those of you who do not/will not have the opportunity to see the room, go around the building for a gorgeous view onto the see. It`s quite magical, the remains of a beautiful Era.
